The Sea of Tranquility – Not so tranquil new adult romance!

tsotbigcover

I loved reading this book The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay!  I had seen good reviews for it all over the book blogosphere and it had been sitting in my Kindle App for a while.   I finally decided to take the plunge and I ended up finishing the book in 1 day.  I started it at about 6am when I woke up and finished it at about 9pm when I went to bed.  I don’t like to start a good book then have to put it down when all I want to know is what happens next!  Most of the time life gets in the way and I’m not so fortunate to have a Sunday to relax!

This is a new adult romance book and it reminded me a lot of another book I read recently called Sempre (see my entry here) and it also had a touch of Hopeless (my entry here) in it.   All three of these books have the same type of feel to them being Young/New Adult style books with characters that are in highschool.  Since I’m a bit older these days I normally read college or adult books (New Adult/Adult genres) but every now and then it’s nice to think back to what it was like in highschool.

It’s taken me 2 days to find someone who looked how I imagined Josh to look.  I like to put a face to a name if I can, at least for the male lead character so we can swoon over him!  This one was definitely more difficult since the character was so young!

Finally when I was watching Bones Season 7 last night, it hit me!  There was a brand new character on the show played by Luke Kleintank.  I could imagine that he was similar to how Josh was described in the book.  When Nastya first saw him on the bench in the courtyard, she couldn’t see his face.  He had light blond hair and his bangs (fringe) were falling in his face while he looked down at his hands.  What do you think?  Is he what you imagined?

Around 2pm I was halfway through the book and needed a break to make lunch.   My husband was asking when lunch would be ready & I couldn’t tell him ‘next chapter’ forever, so I put the book down for a few minutes to make lunch & quickly tweeted.  I couldn’t believe it, but was thrilled when the author herself tweeted back!

I also found an invertview you can read on Aestas Book Blog with the author Katja Millay which is very interesting.

I really got into this story and the characters of Nastya, Josh & Draw all really resonated with me!  I got emotionally involved with them and couldn’t wait to keep reading.  Definitely giving it 5 stars.
