I just finished this book Sempre this afternoon after starting it yesterday, not knowing anything about what it was about. In the first few chapters I couldn’t see where this book was going but once the story started and Haven and Carmine met in the kitchen I was hooked!
This story deals with young love, slavery and the mafia! Its main characters are Haven and Carmine who are two 17 years old who have an instant ‘thunderbolt’ attraction to each other. Haven is a slave (yes, the author J.M. Darhower is very passionate about Human Trafficking) and Carmine’s family is in the mafia.
I picture a youthful looking Louis Tomlinson as Carmine. I know he’s a bit older and he’s British but he has that ‘Italian Feeling’ to him (to me anyway). What do you think? Is this what you imagined?
I have rated this book 4.5 stars because it was a great read with interesting characters. It’s definitely a book I won’t forget!
This book deals with a lot of issues and adult topics while centring on young characters. I am so excited that there is a sequel called Sempre: Redemption coming on 16 December 2013 because even though the book was wrapped up at the end there were some bits that left you hanging. I also hear it might be made into a movie? I’ll keep you posted.
